Dear,

Starting with July 2009 issue, the July 2010 issue of Toitomboor FB version is meant for the readers of Toitomboor across the world, particularly the Banglaphony readers.

It may be mentioned that this version differs from the hardcopy version in terms of colours in some pages.

Annual subscription fee for the hardcopy magazine varies from one country to another starting from BDT 350 for 12 monthly issues within Bangladesh. However, there are no fees applicable for the Toitomboor FB version until further notice.

Copies of the Toitomboor hardcopy issues are sent to leading schools, child related organizations, corporates and embassies besides the subscribers in home and abroad. To promote your issues/brands/products/organization, you can take advantage of the wide coverage through Toitomboor, and hence you can think of a Page Sponsorship.

Baro Taka-y Baro Jon er Shikhkha Shohayota (12 taka EduAid for 12 Children)

"Baro Taka-y Baro Jon er Shikhkha Shohayota (12 taka EduAid for 12 Children)" is a project that was started in 2004. The concept is simple. Any one interested to contribute to this project, is required to make a minimum amount of 12 taka to the fund. The objective is to maximize the number of contributors which could eventually take the amount of contribution to a substantial figure. The contribution could be one time, weekly, monthly, annually or after any length of intervals. This Depends solely on the will of the contributor.

If the total number of contributors reaches to 1000 and if each contributor contributes Tk. 12, then the total amount stands at Tk. 12,000. Moreover, the upper limit of this contribution is left with the contributor's will. Therefore, the more contributors joins this program, the higher the amount would be. If it reaches 100,000 contributors, the principal amount would be Tk. 1,200,000. Then that money would be kept with the bank as fixed deposit and from the interest every year more than 12 needy students can afford education.

Students have been benefited from this project and some of them are pursuing their college education. This is a need based aid. The target group is not the meritorious students, but those who drop out from school as they cannot continue education due to financial limitations.

Foreword

Toitomboor, meaning “full to the brim” in Bangla, has been the leading children and juvenile monthly magazine in Bangladesh since its first publication in January 1992. Although primarily a Bangla magazine, it has got an international section in English called “CHUM” . Besides the publication of the magazine, Toitomboor has involved itself in children’s publication and products, child health, childhood blindness, child rights, child development, environment, promotion of book reading, children’s events and competitions, children with disability, children’s education and so on. EduAid, BookAid, HealthAid, Toitomboor Children's Benevolent Fund (TCBF), Vision 2020 Volunteer Corps (VVC) are some of Toitomboor's multifaceted ventures to name.

Despite its limited resources, Toitomboor has been continuing its endeavours by adhering to a simple approach: “think big, start small.”

This blog is launched to commemorate 19th year of Toitomboor, with the intentions as follows:
1. To meet or bring together the people from all over the world who would like to think, write, work, draw and speak for the children or reminisce their childhood.
2. To be united and help each other everyway possible and leverage our united voice, our expertise, our experiences and our ideas for our children who are our future.
3. To provide an open forum to discuss any topic related to children and the youth and the items published in Toitomboor.

We acknowledge gratefully the inspiration from two of our writers and well-wishers Mr Abu Reza from Dhaka, Bangladesh and Dr Nobbir Ahmed from California, USA by which we planned to make use of blogging.

This is also to mention that this blog is launched on 4 July, 2010 from California, USA from the home computer of Dr Nobbir Ahmed who is hosting the Toitomboor tour made by Mr Hasnain Sabih Nayak, International Relations & Culture Editor, TOITOMBOOR.

Please inform your friends of this blog and send your ideas, concepts, thoughts and feedback.
